The purpose of this handbook is to bring together the most important information that you need about your placement. It provides some background information about our team, culture, training, and development and how we behave in our relationships with patients, families, public and partners. Our reputation is important to us, and every team member has a contribution to make to ensure that we do our best work everyday for the people we serve. There is also policy and procedural content so that you have the clarity about standards that support you during your time on placement with us.

New All Our Health communications toolkit now available

Health Education England elearning for healthcare (HEE elfh) has worked with Public Health England to develop an engaging, interactive communications toolkit to encourage professionals to raise awareness of the All Our Health programme.
In the last year colleagues within health and care, local government and emergency services have accessed the All Our Health resources more than 268,000 times and completed more than 91,000 hours of learning. The programme covers key public health issues including obesity, dementia, air pollution and county lines exploitation.
The communications toolkit has been designed to help those working across communities and places to raise greater awareness of the sessions and call on more professionals to improve their knowledge and confidence in tackling health inequalities.
The toolkit includes the following useful promotional materials:
• Written summary of the programme
• Email signature template
• Introductory video
• Poster
• Social media assets including animated GIFs
• Testimonials
An interactive animation for learners to preview a selection of sessions will be available soon.
Currently there are 26 bite-sized elearning sessions on different public health topics plus 3 interactive townscapes on breastfeeding, childhood obesity and smoking in pregnancy. Further sessions and townscapes will be available later this year to help professionals prevent illness, protect health and promote wellbeing.

How to promote the Crisis Tools

We are delighted to announce that we have been working with colleagues at Healthy Teen Minds to develop and launch a suite of mental health crisis learning resources.
  
These resources have been designed by young people, working with professionals too, allowing you to hear directly from them about what helps in a moment of crisis. The tools complement existing training and education. They aim to build an individual’s confidence to have effective conversations and provide personalised support to a young person in a mental crisis.
  
The short Crisis Tools learning guides we have supported are: 
  
• What you need to know 
• How to start the conversation 
• So you want to talk about risk? 
• How to wrap things up 
We need to ensure this learning resource gets to the front line, especially to those who work in health and care, educational and emergency response settings.
Please can you share these online tools far and wide with your networks? We have provided suggested copy for your communication channels and the intended audiences we are hoping to reach. We will be actively promoting on social media channels too, so please do support us with this by sharing if you can.
Also, as part of the build up to this year’s World Mental Health Day, you can join us on 7 October 2021 for the Healthy Teen Minds online Crisis Tools celebration event. 
Finally, but most importantly, we would like to extend a special thanks to the young advisors who have co-produced and co-led on the curation and development of these resources. They have all selflessly shared their lived experience of mental health crisis, so we can better understand what support young people want and need to hear in a mental health crisis.  

Elearning for pharmacy practice and educational supervisors available

Health Education England elearning for healthcare (HEE elfh) with the University of East Anglia, De Montfort University and Keele University are delighted to launch new elearning sessions for pharmacy practice and educational supervisors.
The elearning sessions have been developed for those in the pharmacy sector who are involved in the training of others, ranging from supervising shadowing experiences, to having educational supervisory roles across a range of settings. This includes community pharmacies, primary care and health and justice pharmacy services.
These new resources aim to provide supervisors with the knowledge and skills needed to gain confidence and satisfaction from their practice and educational activities and enhance their contributions to the development of a highly skilled pharmacy workforce. It also aims to improve the learning experiences of trainees and their contributions to patient-centred care.
This programme currently includes 2 modules:
• Module 1, Core Skills: Introductory level topics relevant to practice and educational supervision. This module is recommended for all as an introductory module or to refresh existing knowledge
• Module 2, Enhanced Skills: A deeper learning approach to topics relevant to practice and educational supervision, providing context for specific programmes/learner groups. This module is recommended for practice and educational supervisors involved in specific regulated pharmacy training programmes and those who wish to develop their skills further
• The development of an 'Advanced Skills' module will be determined upon the workforce need.
Each module takes approximately 2 hours to complete and covers a range of topics with increasing complexity. Learners are asked formative questions to enable interaction and test their knowledge.
