Non Clinical Protected Learning Time

After many conversations with various stakeholders, it was felt that Non-Clinical Staff should have their own PLT session to get learning about a variety of subjects that will help them with their role and also to benefit their practice. Currently, GP's and AHP's have sessions to give them additional learning, and it was felt that Non-Clinical staff should have the same opportunities.

The Training Hub is therefore offering to host a Countywide PLT for all Non-Clinical staff from Receptionists to Practice Managers to try to increase the skills that they have in doing a very challenging role. The calendar which can be found on our website will let you know when the sessions are planned. We will be following the Countywide PLT dates.

PLT Calendar

The first session will take place on the 14th September 2022.

We are confirming the subject matter and speakers for this first session at present. We have taken our lead from the recent survey that we sent out for the subject matter.

Survey Results

We received responses from 76 people. The average rating in favour out of 5 was 4.56 which showed an overwhelming support for the Non-Clinical PLT.

The main topics that have been requested (in order of popularity) were as follows;

  1. Clinical Coding - In response to this we have commissioned a course for Clinical coding which is almost fully booked
  2. CQC Inspections - There are courses available on the website, but we are looking at a potential PLT slot for this
  3. Conflict Resolution/Complaint Handling - We are discussing a session with an ex-hostage negotiator who now runs classes around these subjects
  4. Social Media/Communications
  5. British Sign Language - we are arranging a series of BSL courses at present which will be on the website
  6. Team Building - Part of the focus of the PLT will be an interactive networking opportunity. We will be recommending a 'What's app' and Forum support group
  7. Chaperone Training - Considering for future PLT's

There will always be an opportunity to make suggestions for future topics.
