What is a Healthcare Support Worker?

As a Healthcare Support worker in Primary Care, your role will vary depending on your work environment.

You will form part of the Nursing team, and work alongside colleagues to provide high quality patient care.

Some of the tasks you may undertake could include:

  • Chaperoning
  • Stock ordering
  • Basic observations
  • New patient or NHS health checks
  • ECG’s
  • Phlebotomy
  • Basic dressings

The Training Hub believes in investing in learning and development to enable individuals to reach their full potential and enhance care delivery for patients accessing Primary Care.  At the Training Hub we aim to support you by facilitating access to these programs through supportive career conversations and progress onto the Apprentice Student Nurse Associate Foundation Degree.

Opportunities

Following a supportive career conversation the training hub will liaise with yourself, your line manager and either PCN or Practice manager to see if the role is required in your setting. Once agreed, you will need to apply for the Foundation Degree through the training hub, complete an academic interview and ensure you meet the entry criteria. The course currently is fully funded through the apprenticeship levy.
Criteria:

  • GCSE Maths and English Grade C/4 Above or Functional skills level 2
  • Can drive and have access to a car
